The Trades Club

The Trades Club is an independent socialist members cooperative, bar and music venue in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. It was built in 1924 as a joint enterprise by half a dozen local trade unions and brought back to life in 1982.

The Trades Club, labelled “the hippest venue in the North” by The Guardian, was named Inspirational Venue Of The Year at the 2025 Northern Music Awards.

The club’s intimate 200-capacity live room has hosted performances by a number of world-famous musicians, including Patti Smith, Nico, The Fall, Edwyn Collins, Laura Marling, Buzzcocks, Lee Scratch Perry and more.

Alongside its rich heritage in live music, the venue is well known as a community hub, committed to hosting political events and fundraisers for local and international campaigns.
