SUNDAY EASY presents:
WANDERING MONSTER

Sunday December 6th
2pm-6pm (Matinee Jazz Sessions)

Hailing from one of the UK’s most fertile musical breeding grounds, Leeds-based quintet Wandering Monster has carved out a stellar reputation for shattering the traditional boundaries of the standard tenor saxophone and guitar line-up. Brainchild of double bassist and primary composer Sam Quintana, the band weaves together a compelling sonic tapestry that draws heavily from American and European jazz, contemporary fusion, and intricate world music rhythms. This unique genre-bending bridges the gap between harmonic sophistication and high-octane fusion energy, resulting in a sound that critics celebrate as simultaneously intense and intellectual, yet deeply raucous and sensitive.

Live on stage, Wandering Monster truly captures the boundary-pushing spirit synonymous with the northern jazz scene. The band's labyrinthine arrangements—found on celebrated records like their self-titled debut and the lockdown-inspired album Zenna—come alive through a powerhouse lineup of top-tier northern players: Ben Powling on tenor saxophone, Calvin Travers on guitar, Richard Harrold on piano and keys, and Tom Higham on drums. These individual musicians boast formidable pedigrees, having backed legendary jazz titans and contemporary icons such as Mike Walker, Nikki Iles, Mark Nightingale, Lianne Carroll, and Jasmine Myra.

Don't miss the chance to experience their infectious, off-kilter grooves live.
Residents EasyG and D-Tone will be warming the room with their vinyl selections and this time round Dave Turner ( Cloud Nine ) will be taking care of your post-session matinee cool-off, playing two hours of jazz, funk and eclectic chill to wind-down your laidback Sunday Easy experience.

As usual, Dapur Nin will be providing beautiful Indonesian cuisine, available all afternoon.
