What’s On Hebden Bridge (WOHB) is your go-to, free, community-run online events calendar for HX7 and beyond.
Developed in partnership by Hebden Royd Town Council, Hebden Bridge Community Association and software developer Mike Stephens, unlike other event platforms, we make it easy for individuals, venues, and organisers to share their events across our partner websites. This means more people hear about local events—fast. With handy search and filtering tools, residents, visitors and tourists can quickly discover what’s on by exploring the listings.
But it’s not just about events. Our vision is to help build a stronger, more connected community. By offering a free and accessible space for events of all kinds, we’re making it easier for people to connect, get involved, and feel part of the community. We hope to play a part in reducing social isolation, improve wellbeing, and foster a resilient local economy by bringing people together to enjoy all that HX7 has to offer.
WOHB is a local initiative with a community focus. It is a place of kindness, collaboration and mutual support. Please see our community guidelines for more information.
You can contact the project via email: info@whatsonhebdenbridge.com
To submit an event, click the "add your event" button that appears in the top right of every page. You'll first be asked to create a basic profile, following which you'll then be automatically logged in and redirected to the "add event" page and guided through the simple, step by step process to complete your event details.
If you decide to add / edit your event details you can do so by logging back in and editing the listing. There is no limit to how many events a user can create.
No. The entire platform is free to use including to list events. In addition, please note that WOHB does not support paid options to ‘boost’, ‘spotlight’ or otherwise raise events through the rankings.
A great listing sets you up for a great event. WOHB is set up to make sure that you complete all the essential sections to submit your listing. But in addition to these sections, please consider your audience and what questions they may have and what additional information you can offer to help promote your event. A good picture says a thousand words, plus links to external sites may be helpful.
Yes. In fact, it is good practice to do so if it helps inform your audience. For example, you may want to link to your own website. In addition, if you are selling tickets for your event or taking bookings, you’ll need to direct people to those sites as WOHB does not support booking and tickets sales.
No, it is an information only website. WOHB can support links to booking pages and ticket sales sites providing the links are added by event organisers on their event listings.
Events are listed by date by default. This means that you’ll see events listed according to what is happening soonest in descending order. By using the different search filtering options you can narrow your search, but event results within a search will still display in date order.
While WOHB uses the place name Hebden Bridge, the site supports events in Hebden Bridge and throughout the surrounding HX7 area.
You have full ownership over managing your own events listings. You can edit an active event listing by logging into your user profile account, selecting the event you’d like to update / amend / cancel and editing the information directly into the listing.
Remember, if you cancel an event and you have sold tickets on another platform such as Eventbrite, you’ll need to complete the cancellation and refund process on that external site too.
It’s expected that local venues will gain free exposure through WOHB. If your venue appears on WOHB but does not yet have a profile of its own, now is a great time to make one! By completing the details of your venue / a venue you are responsible for, you can take full control of the venue profile. For instance, you can easily connect with current event organisers, help visitors find out what they need to know about your venue, increase traffic to your own website, and gain free exposure to help secure future bookings.
To claim a venue profile please email: info@whatsonhebdenbridge.com with your contact name and venue details and we’ll get back to you.
What makes WOHB stand out from other events platforms is its ability to populate other webpages with event data feeds through the WOHB widget. Any other website that supports the WOHB widget can display events originating on the WOHB site.
Events data from WOHB can be drawn up to auto-populate e-newsletters / printable events listings by platform users. Additionally, WOHB can share events listings on digital display screens (within HX7) to help further promote what’s on.
The WOHB widget is relatively simple to implement and free to use. It can be made available to any appropriate site that will support it, and can display events using bespoke filtering options. For example, as a primary events data feed on a webpage of a particular organisation or venue, or to simply showcase all events happening in your locality.
Please email: info@whatsonhebdenbridge.com with your contact name, web address, and reason for wanting to use to the WOHB widget and we’ll get back to you.
WOHB is for the community by community and users are responsible for managing their own listings. While the vast majority of users and the content of their listings will respect our community guidelines, should you encounter any content that you consider to be in violation of our guidelines please use the report button featured on event listing pages. Include as much information as you can in the report so that the content can be reviewed by the WOHB team. Inappropriate content will be removed and those responsible notified.
