Murder at Snow Booth: Gender and Justice between the wars.

What can the story of a local 1933 murder tell us about gender and justice between the wars? What might it reveal about those same themes in the modern day?

It’s midsummer. Hill top farmers above Hebden Bridge are taking in the hay. Evening is falling. The final act of a cruel and brutal marriage is about to play out.

Matilda Wilding is the creator of Yorkshire: A Murderous History a podcast in which historical homicides (and sinister mysteries) are investigated for the illumination of the past and insights into our present day. The often untold stories of Yorkshire’s working class women are front and centre of her work.
