Halifax Diamonds: how diamond cutting and polishing developed during the World Wars: talk by Bryan Harkness

Event added by Hebden Bridge Local History Society

Traditionally diamond cutting and polishing required a five or six year apprenticeship, but during World War 2 the British Government asked a company in Halifax to mechanise the process.

Why and how did they do it?

Bryan was born, and has lived and worked, in Halifax for many years in the Engineering world, hence his interest in the local story of diamond cutting.

Later he set up his own business in Financial services.
