About the Class:
Functional Yoga blends different styles of yoga and takes inspiration from Pilates and rehab exercise to support both physical and mental wellbeing. The class is designed and delivered by Rachel Pilling, a runner and endurance coach trained in hatha, flow, yin and specialist training in yoga for athletes.
You can expect a thoughtful mix of styles including: Hatha, yin and flow to provide S&C and relieve tension, along with the core activation of Pilates and mobility work for joint health. The emphasis is on real-world movement without jargon or dogma. Just mindful, intelligent sequences that build strength, flexibility and awareness.
Who is the class for? Runners, cyclists, hikers, active folks, or anyone wanting to be more active.
Is it Suitable for Beginners: The class is suitable for beginners and yoga regulars. Instructions are clear and don’t require a knowledge of the names of yoga poses. Instead, you will be guided you through movements using anatomy, direction and function.
There are always options offered to adapt or advance poses and you are encouraged to adjust to what your body can do and what you feel is beneficial.
The class involves standing, sitting & lying poses and includes some stronger poses that work on stability and balance. If you have very limited mobility, the class might not be suitable.
Equipment: You can bring your own mat if you have one. We do have mats and equipment available that you are welcome to borrow.
Booking on to the Class: Booking is advised, but not essential. You can buy a single class drop in or a block of 5 classes.
Cost: £10 per class / £40 Block of 5 Classes
Cancellation: Please ensure you give at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel. You can get a refund or defer to the following week. Cancellations within 24 hours cannot be refunded or deferred.
