Manchester-based pianist, producer, and composer Matt Wilde brings a distinctive sound that sits at the crossroads of jazz improvisation and electronic beat-making. Influenced by the sample-heavy work of Madlib, JDilla, and Pete Rock, his music carries a deep connection to hip hop while remaining rooted in jazz. A self-taught musician shaped by the UK club scene, his sound blends analogue texture, intricate rhythm, and the raw energy of live performance, resulting in a style that feels both deeply soulful and forward-thinking.
His releases, including debut album Hello World and the follow-up Find a Way, have earned widespread support across BBC Radio 1, 2, 3 and 6, as well as Jazz FM and Worldwide FM and he has performed at major UK jazz festivals and respected venues such as Camden’s Jazz Cafe, building a reputation for immersive, groove-driven live sets that balance spontaneity with tightly crafted, electronic-influenced production.
For this performance, Matt Wilde is joined by Matte Wood on horns, adding a rich, expressive layer to the live show. Together, they create a dynamic interplay between keys, beats, and brass, expanding the scope of Wilde’s compositions in real time. As the founder of Hello World Records, he continues to champion creative independence, accessibility, and a new wave of boundary-pushing UK jazz.
