Wainsgate Dances are thrilled to present this performance.
Meg Stuart, one of the world’s most influential and acclaimed contemporary choreographers—and recipient of the 2018 Venice Biennale Golden Lion for Dance Lifetime Achievement— makes a rare UK appearance at Wainsgate Chapel not to be missed.
With her company Damaged Goods, the cult American choreographer Meg Stuart has been at the forefront of creating work situated on the border between dance and theatre, visual arts and music for 30 years.
As Artistic Director of the world-renowned performance group Forced Entertainment, writer and performance maker Tim Etchells has been tearing up the rulebook of contemporary performance on the international stage for 40 years.
Now, having collaborated on texts for Meg’s pieces for many years, the trailblazing duo share their first joint creation.
Shown and Told, a dynamic but fragile performance collage, exposes the very different practices and sensibilities of two artists from different fields. Exploring the relationship between movement, image and performing bodies, the two performers develop a conversation that is tough, touching and comical by turns.
Part of the Forced Entertainment's 40th anniversary season.
