Born into Dublin in the mid-'70s, Damien Dempsey emerged as an exciting young talent in the mid-'90s. Dempsey learned to control his wide variety of influences while crafting an extremely original and personal style of folk music across the albums, They Don't Teach This Shit In School (2000), Seize The Day (2003), Shots (2005), To Hell Or Barbados (2007), The Rocky Road (2008), Almighty Love (2012), No Force On Earth (2016), Soulsun (2017) and Union (2018).

Over his career, Damien has collaborated with artists such as Sinéad O'Connor, Lisa O'Neill, John Grant, Kae Tempest, Glen Hansard, Dido, Imelda May and Finbar Furey, to name but a few. 2023 saw his one-man play, Tales from the Holywell, sell out its 20-night run at Dublin's Abbey Theatre. In 2024, his first album of new music in 7 years, Hold Your Joy, was released to widespread critical acclaim.
