Calderdale trades council’s annual May Day celebration will commemorate the centenary of the General Strike of 1926, marking the anniversary with an exceptional group of speakers as well as radical poets and musicians. Join us for an afternoon of trades unionism and radical politics, then stay for the first annual Calderdale TUC dinner.

 

Speakers and artists include:
Judy Cox, co-author of the book Revisiting the General Strike of 1926: When Workers Were Ready to Dare
John Dunn, former striking coal miner and rebel Clay across coal miner
Eric Richardson, striking worker at the National Coal Mining Museum, Wakefield
Mark Metcalf of Calderdale TUC on the General Strike of 1926 in Halifax
Dave Holmes, the rebel poet
Lewis Pugh, musician
