They’ve been part of our festival since the second year back in 2017 and, after what feels like eons, they’re back! Yes, cult-cabaret stars Bourgeois & Maurice return to Happy Valley Pride for a new night of glamour-soaked nihilism and anarchic musical comedy.
Known for original, razor-sharp satirical songs with a gleefully dark edge, the critically-acclaimed duo present brand spanking new material (and some old faves) for a riotous musical journey through the state of the world - frivolous, unhinged, and impeccably doomed.
Their unique brand of pop-satire and far-fetched fashion, has won them legions of fans around the world. From New York to Kettering, from an ex-public toilet to the Royal Opera House, it doesn’t matter to them as long as there’s a piano to bash, a lick of clear mascara to apply and a (semi) willing audience watching.
Come for the laughs. Stay for the darkness. Leave humming something you probably shouldn’t.

‘Absurdly ingenious, clever, spiky and humane’ – The Scotsman *****
And before Bourgeois & Maurice we have...
KHANDAN – Family: The Shame Generation. Written and performed by Sid Akbar, presented by Dhamaka Arts.
Every sip of tea takes you somewhere new…
Sid Akbar's solo show travels through time, memory and belonging -- drawn from his own experience of growing up queer in a Pakistani Muslim family in Bradford. From fear in his Mum's cosy kitchen to hope in a sparse Manchester bedsit, join Captain Sid's continuing voyage of self-discovery. “The Wrath of Khandan” explores family duty, clouds of shame, queer spaces that feel like home and the complicated truth that the chosen family can hurt you too.
Funny, tender and bracingly honest, this is a story of love.
A queer South Asian story. A Bradford story. Honestly, a bit of everyone's story.
