bouquet: practices of gathering and arranging is a two-day workshop for creative practitioners interested in embodied practice, movement and site-responsive approaches to making work.
Drawing inspiration from the performance work bouquet and the ongoing artistic dialogue between Katye Coe and Amy Voris, the workshop is informed by an understanding of choreography as inseparable from embodied experience.
Together, we will explore composition as a process of attentive gathering and arranging, attending to the rich interplay between movement and place.
Mornings will consist of closely guided experiential movement practices drawing on embodied anatomy and improvisational frameworks. Through solo, duet, and group explorations, participants will investigate how bodily experience, in relation to place, can generate compositional possibilities.
Afternoons will open into more spacious and self-directed creative processes. Working throughout the chapel and its grounds, participants will develop personal and collaborative approaches to gathering, arranging, and composing. Alongside practical exploration, there will be opportunities for reflection and conversation.
As part of the workshop, Katye will perform a rendition of bouquet, offering participants an opportunity to encounter the work alongside some of the questions and processes from which it has emerged.
