St James' Church is a Grade 2 listed building and as such, it is a bit of a challenge to maintain. Most people are not aware that the church does not receive any money from the government and relies almost completely on the generosity and goodwill of local people to keep the building in good condition.
The church, the St John's Room, and Upper Room are available to hire.
Every Saturday we are the hub for a small Community Payback Team who help to look after the church.
Warm Space and Place of Welcome is on Tuesdays and with the help of Calder Community Cares, the church runs a daily food share at St James'.
Sunday service is normally at 9:15 am and Wednesday morning prayers at 9:30 am.
Every two months there is a service for LGBTQIA+ & Allies as St James' is an inclusive church – a church which celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate.
