South Pennine Archives is the result of a partnership between Pennine Heritage's Digital Archive and the Hebden Bridge Local History Society's physical archive, housed at the Birchcliffe Centre. We collect and store a wide variety of historical sources and objects related to the South Pennines. Our digital archive has over 65,000 digitised images, while our physical holdings include sources from the medieval period up to the present day.
The physical part of the archive is open to the public on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons - please get in touch beforehand to book an appointment so that someone is here to help with your enquiries. Our digital archive is contactable through the website or through email. We also run sessions and one-off events throughout the year (more details here).
