Walk and creative writing workshop

Meet at Withens Clough car park for a gentle walk around the reservoir, where we’ll gather information and material about the surrounding landscape using observation, field notes and photos.  Afterwards, at a follow-up writing workshop at St Johns in the Wilderness (Cragg Vale) additional materials and writing exercises will help us to produce poems and phrases using invented and local language. We would like to include some of these in a ‘Calderdale Peat Glossary’. 

• Bring a notepad and pen
• There will be a break between the walk and workshop, Hinchcliffe pub is nearby or bring a packed lunch.
• Light refreshments provided.
• No dogs please
• This activity is suitable for people 16+

Walk approx. 2 miles, fairly flat with some uneven ground

This is part of the "PeatZine // Moorlands Stories along the Calderdale Way" project, which will create a zine for the Todmorden-Cragg Vale section of The Calderdale Way, involving local stories, artwork, sound and writing. We would like writing created in this workshop to be included in the zine.
