Nottingham based hip-hop artist, Cappo presents extracts from his recent exhibition CAPStone — an installation that translates the concepts, textures, and emotional charge of his critically acclaimed music into physical form.
Developed as an exploration of how hip-hop lyricism can sit alongside more traditional artistic mediums, CAPStone rethinks how music is encountered and contemplated in contemporary settings. Through the deconstruction of sound, thought, and feeling, the work invites a slower, more reflective engagement with an artist whose influence on UK rap culture is both profound and enduring.
S.T.A.R.V.E. invites audiences into an experience of isolation within the crowd — a condition long explored by artists, writers, and musicians as both a shared human story and a fragile psychological state.
Drawing on multiple artistic movements and historical references, the work considers loneliness not simply as absence, but as an active force: one that can sharpen perception, unsettle the mind, and reveal the edges of mental wellbeing. S.T.A.R.V.E. reframes these themes as something lived and felt in the present moment, asking how isolation operates now, and what it means to sit with it together.
"Those who step into the CAPStone world should expect more than passive consumption. What unfolds is a carefully staged encounter — at once pleasurable and demanding — where lyric, object, breath, and rhythm are brought into close alignment.
Moments of immediate recognition sit alongside slower, tactile experiences that resist quick interpretation. Attention is both offered and required. In this exchange, listening becomes an active practice: physical, intellectual, and cumulative. The reward is not instant clarity, but a deeper understanding of how meaning is built — and how carefully it must be attended to."
