Meadows Day 2026

Event added by Hebden Royd Town Council

Join Hebden Royd Town Council on High Hirst Woodmeadow for International Meadows Day 2026!

Celebrate the unique habitat that makes up High Hirst Woodmeadow with the opportunity to join Ecologist Steve Hindle to learn about the flora and fungi, which calls the site home.

Local Historian Paul Knights will also be leading a heritage walk, where attendees can learn about the history of the site and how it has impacted it's ecology in the present day.

Volunteers from the project will be demonstrating how the meadow is mown using scythes, alongside a demonstration of the traditional countryside craft of drystone walling.

Dod Pod Holiday club will be providing Forest School activities for children with a meadows theme at High Hirst play area, a few minutes walk from the meadow.
