This workshop will dig into the methodology of Matthew’s performance READY which will be performed on Sunday 24th at Wainsgate, with its pleasing micro-moves and larger patterns.
It offers a practical insight into, sharing both the long history of physical preparation behind READY and the compositional strategies that drive it.
That day will take place in two 2 and a half hour sessions (10am-12.30pm & 1pm – 4.30pm)
The morning focuses on the foundations of his practice: how he comes to be moving, and the many strands of training and enquiry that have shaped READY. Through this, participants are invited to consider how their own practices might be constructed, articulated, and shared.
The afternoon shifts towards READY as an active resource. Participants explore its structural games and methods, using them to generate new material and immediate compositions.
Both sessions begin with a thorough physical warm-up, preparing the body for the work that follows.
The workshop is open to those who wish to attend either session or the full day, offering different points of entry for those drawn to detailed process or to the act of making itself.
All are welcome.
This workshop is open to anyone over the age of 18 yrs (15 to 18yrs need to be accompanied by an adult).
