Unlock the hidden stories within Heptonstall’s history using your imagination and voice. In this immersive workshop, you’ll bring artefacts to life, crafting vivid descriptions and sketches. Your inspiration will come from either your own local find or objects collected as part of the Heptonstall Museum’s forthcoming exhibition.
Through interactive storytelling, you’ll explore folklore, culture, and personal memory, shaping narratives that blend past and present. Then using guided prompts Rachel will help you envision historical characters, their movements, emotions, and struggles, transforming history into compelling fiction.
Drawing on archival insights from workshop leader, Rachel Nisbet’s own grandfather’s writings, she’ll share Lloyd (“Mr Hebden Bridge”) Greenwood’s knowledge of local heritage and his mother’s Heptonstall heritage using her own original postcards and stories to encourage you in celebrating and capturing oral traditions using creative expression.
Come ready to reimagine history, uncover hidden voices, and build your creative toolbox for future writing.
Bring a personal artefact or object relating to Heptonstall or the local area —it may hold a story waiting to be told!
