Join Hebden Royd Town Council for a day of practical environmental conservation volunteering on High Hirst Woodmeadow.
This month's tasks include footpath maintenance and dry stone walling. Volunteers under the guidance of Hebden Royd Town Council's Local Environment Officer will scrape off encroaching vegetation on the access path to the site and rebuild a tumbledown dry stone wall on 'Lawfield'.
Volunteers will receive a site, health and safety briefing and will be provided with the necessary personal protective equipment.
Volunteer numbers are capped to ensure that the work is carried out safely. Volunteering is open to those aged 16+, however those aged 16 and 17 years old will need to be supervised by a responsible adult who is also volunteering on the day.
In the event of inclement weather the activity will be postponed.

Parking is limited on Dodd Naze estate and attendees are asked to car share, walk, cycle or use public transport when attending. The timetable for the route which serves the site can be found via the link below. The bus stop is 'Manor Drive'.

Hebden Royd Town Council set up the High Hirst Woodmeadow project in 2019, as a response to the climate emergency and biodiversity loss. The four acre site provides a unique habitat for a huge variety of flora and fauna - including some extremely rare species. With selective planting and careful management, the site will help to capture and store carbon and reduce the risk of flooding.
