Poet Liz Berry’s award-winning novel-in-verse, The Home Child, is inspired by the story of her great aunt, one of thousands of British children sent to Canada to work as indentured servants. Following Eliza’s journey from the slums of the Black Country to the wilds of Nova Scotia, these poems tell an enchanting story of a girl far from home.
Join us for a very special performance of The Home Child, where Liz’s poems will be accompanied by exquisite fiddle music from Ruth Angell live on stage.
Later in the evening there will be an in-conversation session hosted by acclaimed poet Kim Moore.
