Gujarat and Kutch in western India are renowned for sumptuous, dazzling textiles. From detailed mirror work and exceptional embroidery, to the thousands of hand tied knots used to make the finest bandhani - each are connected to the traditions of a particular commuity or ethnic group and go back generations.
Starting amongst the ancient architecture in the city of Ahmedabad, Sue will draw upon images and experiences from her last three trips to the region, leading you westwards to the desert town of Bhuj, Kutch (Kachchh) and a textile adventure among beautiful Banni villages with their fine artistic heritage to meet the families who design and make this stunning work. Fairs, festivals, local markets and craft workshops all add to the rich kaleidoscope of colour of this in-person presentation.
Textiles and artefacts will be on hand for your perusal - a few items will be for sale.
