Dementia Friendly: Three Amigos!

Three cowboy movie stars from the silent era - Dusty Bottoms (Chevy Chase), Lucky Day (Steve Martin) and Ned Nederlander (Martin Short)  are fired when one of their movies bombs.

In what seems to be a career-saving offer, young Mexican woman Carmen (Patrice Martinez) offers them a high-paying gig in her village. The three jump at the opportunity, expecting to do their typical act, but Carmen believes they are really heroes and asks them to rid her village of bad guy El Guapo (Alfonso Arau).

Our FREE Dementia-Friendly Screenings, kindly funded by Hebden Royd Town Council, take place on the third Monday of every month.

These community-led screenings are open to everyone, with a special welcome for people living with dementia, as well as their families, friends and carers. They are designed to offer a relaxed, friendly and inclusive cinema experience where people can come together, enjoy a film, and feel comfortable in the space.

We aim to show classic and feel-good films that can be enjoyed by a wide audience, creating a shared experience in a warm and welcoming setting.

To help make screenings more accessible and enjoyable, we make a number of adjustments to the usual cinema environment. There are no adverts or trailers, so the film starts promptly at the advertised time of 1pm. The lights are kept on low, the sound is adjusted to suit the audience, and guests are welcome to talk, sing and move around during the screening. We also provide accessible signage to help people feel at ease in the building.

Before the film, we serve free tea, coffee and biscuits for half an hour, giving guests the chance to meet and socialise with others, enjoy a hot drink, and get familiar with the cinema space before the screening begins.
