Help us with removing invasive Himalayan Balsam from Rawtonstall Wood to help restore a healthy biodiversity in this ancient woodland.
Come and join us uprooting the highly invasive Himalayan Balsam from Rawtonstall Wood to help restore a healthy biodiversity in this ancient woodland.
Himalayan Balsam is an invasive non-native species that spreads quickly and takes over woodlands, streams and riverbanks, producing a monoculture instead of the rich, diverse habitats our woodlands should be.
We would be delighted if you would like to join us for a few hours or for a whole day on one or more of our volunteer dates! No experience is needed - it’s easy work that doesn’t require tools and full instructions will be given. You will be in good company and will be helping take some much needed positive action in a beautiful setting.
What to wear: It’s best to wear trousers and long sleeves as Himalayan Balsam and nettles like to keep company, along with sturdy shoes or boots. Gardening or work gloves are required but we do have some you can borrow.
What to being: Please bring your own water, lunch and snacks.
Access: Please note that there's very limited parking on site and it would be best to either walk up or arrange a lift with us.
Children are welcome to join but must be accompanied by an adult.
Please book using the Eventbrite booking link below so we know that you're coming and can arrange an appropriate meeting point as parking is limited. We are working in a large area within a woodland so it's not always immediately obvious where we are.
